so i hear the price of lobster on opening day will be ?

So i hear that the price of lobster on opening day will be 5.00$.
that is good news because last year it opened at 3.25$..the lobster buyers told us that after christmas that they might not be able to buy our lobsters,so everyone sold at a crappy price, and by new years the price went to 8.00 bucks.Everyone that was not a fisherman said"oh wow 8 bucks, that must make the fisherman happy"..well not really,if anything it pissed me off more,it deosnt help me if we all sold our lobster because of the scare tactics of the buyers.
So the gloom and doom story has been used, and even after all the gloom and doom of last year the price did go up by new year.so they cant use the same story twice. Thanks to their scare tactics i lost about 10,000 dollars last year cause of the buyers,so if we get less than 5.00 bucks a pound i will be pissed.
Someone said once"well the buyers only make 35 cents a pound"oh well in that case i have one thing to say...boo fucking hoo..do the math,if a buyer buys 2 million pounds..which alot do..they just made a measly 700,000$..so to think we have to go out there and fish and make thousands of dollars less doesnt seem fair.
the economic crisis would be over if the buyers could give us a fair price...where is fair trade when you need it.

Cowboys Stadium opens, price tag 1.2 billion, but wait there is a problem.

The economic downturn did not hit Texas just yet, last night the Dallas Cowboys opened their new stadium that cost an amazing 1.2 billion dollars.

The scoreboard and jumbo screen is 60ft long and 90ft high. The biggest of its kind, but there is a problem, some of the kickers were hitting the scoreboard at practise before the game.

Titans kicker exposes problem in Cowboys Stadium - ESPN: "The Tennessee Titans felt they exposed a major flaw in Cowboys Stadium during the first football game played in the building when reserve punter A.J. Trapasso hit the gigantic HD screen that hangs over the field."

The owner of the Cowboys said that a punter would have to kick it straight up and very hard to hit the board,in the game you wouldnt come close to that thing. The kicker for Tennessee Trapasso said he didn't try to hit the board during the game, but admitted warm-ups were different.

Brett Favre is coming back

Brett Favre is coming back,at 39 years old he is coming out of retirement to play for the Minnesota Vikings. He will be in derect competition with his old team the GreenBay Packers for a playoff birth.this move gives the Vikings the best chance to reach the superbowl, because the other 2 Quarterbacks are not very good.Sage Rosenfels and Tavaris Jackson have been competing for the starting job,Sage had single handedly lost 3 games for Houston last year by running around and instead of throwing the ball away he was fumbling the ball more than throwing it,Tavaris Jackson would be the better option but now with Brett Favre signed and on the practise field,he will be the new starter and will give them the best chance to win this year.
The Vikings have the best running back in the game with Adrian Peterson,a good receiver in Bernard Barion, and a great new rookie receiver in Percy Harvin, and a good back up running back and third down weapon in Chester Taylor,so with Favre they will be tough to beat.
im totally sycked for Football this year.

$50,000 fine and two-year licence suspension handed down in case of largest seizure of illegal lobsters in the Atlantic provinces

novanewsnow.com Sou'Wester $50,000 fine and two-year licence suspension handed down in case of largest seizure of illegal lobsters in the Atlantic provinces: "A Yarmouth County fishing captain has been fined $50,000 and suspended from lobster fishing for two years in what the court was told Friday was the largest seizure of illegal undersized lobsters ever in the Atlantic provinces.
Its a shame that this had to happen to a nice guy,but he brought this on himself,so its hard to feel sorry, but if people think for a minute that this man is the only one thats doing illegal activities, your dead wrong.
I wouldn't be surprised if 50% of fisherman haul a few more trawls and a few more traps than allowed.

Daniel Edward Doucette of Wedgeport was sentenced in provincial court in Yarmouth on Aug. 14 after pleading guilty months ago to possession of undersized lobsters.

With just five days left in the commercial lobster season in May 2008, DFO fishery officers ¬– following up on tips of illegal activity – seized the fishing vessel Kayla and Dylan at the Wedgeport Tuna Wharf. On the lobster boat were crates containing 5,330 illegal-sized lobsters that had been brought back to shore."

During Doucette’s sentencing hearing, the court was told that removing that many lobsters from the ocean equated to the removal of five to six million lobster eggs from the future resource. In this case the lobsters were returned to the water but the Crown noted that was only because the accused had been caught. In handing down his sentence, Judge Robert Prince said it was imperative that an important message be sent out that the lobster resource must be protected. Illegal activities of this type, the judge said, will carry a very large price tag indeed.

Great Fake Punt: 1st TD of NFL Preseason [Vid]

the first touchdown of the preseason was a fake punt from the second string punter that probably wont even make the final roster..cause not many teams have more than a kicker and a punter, some might keep a back up punter that could kick some field goals for a few games if needed..but you got to check his fake punt.Great Fake Punt: 1st TD of NFL Preseason [Vid]

49ers' Crabtree conducts convoluted holdout - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

49ers' Crabtree conducts convoluted holdout - NFL - Yahoo! Sports: "In April, the cross-bay San Francisco 49ers rejoiced when the Raiders selected wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey(notes) seventh overall. It allowed the Niners to select Michael Crabtree(notes), a pass-catching machine out of Texas Tech, at No. 10. Predraft hype rated Crabtree higher than Heyward-Bey.
Now the Niners’ dream pick has turned nightmare. In a convoluted strategy, Crabtree is threatening to sit out the 2009 season by negotiating off mock drafts which didn’t occur rather than the real one that did.
Crabtree has decided that he shouldn’t have to be paid less because – based on all the made-up, predicted drafts – Al Davis made a mistake. He wants to be paid more than Heyward-Bey, demanding his contract reflect that it was actually he who was the higher selected receiver."

Crabtree’s camp said Thursday that he is even willing to sit out the year and re-enter the draft next spring unless he gets more than the $23.5 million the Raiders guaranteed Heyward-Bey. The news was first reported by profootballtalk.com. Anything less than that stratospheric number is “unacceptable.”

wedgeport Lobball tournament

This tournament is the best thing to happen in wedgeport for a very long time.
Everybody comes to watch the games, right from thursday night to the final game on sunday night.
Its a great time for all and you get to talk to and see people you just usually dont see around.
this years teams seemed pretty equal..all the teams have a few good homerun hitters and a few good hitter, and all the pitchers were throwing good pitches..at any point it was anyones game to win or lose..a few errors could impact a game.the last game was as close as it gets, came down to the last batter..great entertainment for the fans for sure.
This year the Leblanc team just happen to scrape by the last 2 games to win the tournament, and i know that i already cant wait for next years tournament. The leblanc team will have a few more people in i9t than this year, cause as the years go by more people want to play..which is a good sign..see you all next year.

Mike Vick is back in football.
PHILADELPHIA -- A remorseful Michael Vick wants a second chance and vowed to crusade for animal rights with the Philadelphia Eagles -- and knows he won't be easily forgiven by fans.
"I know I've done some terrible things, made a horrible mistake. Now I want to be part of the solution and not the problem," Vick said Friday, referring to his conviction for his role in running a dogfighting ring.
Vick was introduced by the Eagles a day after signing a one-year deal with a team option for a second year.
Vick, dressed in a grey pinstriped suit, was flanked by Eagles coach Andy Reid and mentor Tony Dungy.
"I really got the sense he wanted to do some great things," Dungy said. "He wanted to be a positive role model for young people. He wanted to get back to his family."
Vick has been out of action since 2006. The former Atlanta Falcons star served 18 months of a 23-month sentence in federal prison.

PANTHERS' STEVE SMITH INJURES SHOULDER IN PRACTICE

Carolina Panthers receiver Steve Smith has an injured right shoulder after a collision at practice.
X-rays taken Monday night were negative. Panthers general manager Marty Hurney had little information and was uncertain how long the four-time Pro Bowl selection will be sidelined.
Smith crumpled to the turf and grabbed his right arm after getting tangled with cornerback Chris Gamble early in the workout, held without pads. He winced, took off his helmet and kicked it before walking to a nearby tent. Smith was briefly treated before being carted inside.
Smith had 78 catches for 1,421 yards and six touchdowns last season."

The Chicago White Sox acquire Alex Rios on waivers from Toronto Blue Jays - ESPN Chicago

The Chicago White Sox acquire Alex Rios on waivers from Toronto Blue Jays ....
NEW YORK -- Blue Jays outfielder Alex Rios has been claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox, sending him to a contending team and giving Toronto financial flexibility.
Alex Rios' production has plummeted this season, but he has especially declined in hitting when he is ahead in the count and against off-speed pitches. Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi announced the move Monday night, about 30 minutes before the Blue Jays were scheduled to play the New York Yankees. Rios was in the initial starting lineup when he learned the news.
Toronto did not receive any compensation for the two-time All-Star, who is batting .264 with 14 homers and 62 RBIs in 108 games.
The 28-year-old Rios signed a seven-year contract with the Blue Jays in April 2008 that guarantees him $69,835,000.
Chicago began the night three games back of the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central."

Roethlisberger accuser allegedly bragged about sex - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Roethlisberger accuser allegedly bragged about sex - The woman suing quarterback Ben Roethlisberger(notes) for alleged sexual assault has been accused of bragging about having consensual sex with him to a co-worker.
According to court documents filed late Friday, Angela Antonetti said the woman who made the rape claim “did not appear to be upset, stressed-out or nervous” about her time with the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback during a 2008 celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe.
Antonetti said her Harrah’s hotel-casino co-worker “appeared happy and boastful,” and later said she thought she might be pregnant from the encounter. Antonetti made the remarks in a sworn statement attached to a motion to move the case from Reno to Minden, Nev.
“Rather than indicating that she was afraid or apprehensive about this, (the woman) expressed to me that she was hoping for a ‘little Roethlisberger,” said Antonetti, who worked with her at Harrah’s between 2006 and 2009.
Lawyer Cal Dunlap, who represents the woman, declined to comment Saturday.
“We’ll just deal with it in the lawsuit,” he said.
In her lawsuit, the 31-year-old Nevada woman says she was working as a VIP hostess during the tournament when the two-time Super Bowl winner raped her in a hotel penthouse across the street from the golf course—a claim he vehemently denies."

BLACKHAWKS FORWARD PATRICK KANE ARRESTED IN BUFFALO

Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane was charged with attacking a cab driver in his home town Sunday, a beating police said was triggered when the driver did not have 20 cents in change to give the player and his cousin.
Buffalo police said the 20-year-old Kane and his 21-year-old cousin, James Kane, had apparently caught a cab from the city's downtown nightclub district at about 4 a.m. ET. The cab driver suffered cuts to his face and his glasses were damaged, police spokesman Michael DeGeorge said.
Both men were charged with felony robbery and misdemeanour counts of theft of services and criminal mischief. Patrick Kane, who earned US$875,000 last season, pleaded not guilty in local court Sunday, WIVB-TV reported. It was not immediately clear when James Kane will appear in court.
The driver said he was punched and hit by both men because he did not have 20 cents in change to give them, according to the police report.
A message left at the home of Patrick Kane's parents was not immediately returned Sunday afternoon. Relatives who answered his grandfather's phone and his mother's cell phone declined to comment and could not say whether either Kane had a lawyer.
A Blackhawks spokesman said the team is aware of the allegations against Kane."

Top QBs can expect a hike - The Boston Globe

Top QBs can expect a hike
Manning’s mega-deal will be boon for Brady
Eli Manning’s contract extension with the Giants, which will reportedly pay him $106.9 million over the next seven years, has a trickle-down effect here in New England.
Football Notes Top QBs can expect a hike
If Manning is worth an average of $15.2 million per season - making him the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL - what might Tom Brady command?
It’s a question the Patriots and Brady don’t necessarily have to answer until the end of the 2010 season, when he would become an unrestricted free agent. Yet, based on the history between the sides, it’s a question that very well could be answered this year, because the Patriots have traditionally extended Brady with two years remaining.
Brady, who has sought a fair market deal in the past but has been willing to acquiesce some so top players could still be acquired, has never entered the final year of his contract without an extension."

Eagles TE Ingram tears ACL; WR Jackson hurts knee

i am your football and baseball guy...
Eagles TE Ingram tears ACL; WR Jackson hurts knee: "Bethlehem, PA (Sports Network) - Philadelphia Eagles tight end Cornelius Ingram was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee Saturday.
Ingram, a 2009 fifth-round draft pick out of the University of Florida, sat out his entire senior season with the Gators due to the same injury. He suffered the latest injury during a goal-line drill Tuesday before an MRI confirmed the latest diagnosis.
Also, Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson suffered a hyperextended left knee Saturday when he got tangled up with cornerback Asante Samuel at practice at training camp. Jackson was carted off the field, but the injury is considered minor."
Here's what i think the Bluejays should do for the futur. They got some good young players like Adam Lind LF,Joe Inglet utility player,Snyder a great hitter and out field and the top defencive Shortstop in Johnny Macdonald.
Right fielder Alex Rios has been claimed off waivers by an unidentified team.If a player is claimed by another organization, a team can either pull the player off waivers, let the claiming team add him to its roster or discuss a trade with the claiming club. In Rios' case, parting with the underperforming right fielder would be a way to shed salary for a Toronto club that has slipped to fourth place in the American League East.
So i see it like this....if the Bluejays let Rios go they clear alot of cap space, and i do beleive if someone is picked up off waivers the Bluejays would get 2 draft picks in compensation.
This would give them the option of trading Marco Scutaro and Lyle Overbay and some real time money to get a really heavy hitter, cause they need that 25 to 35 homerun hitter, and they would still have Adam Lind,Travis Snyder,Vernon Wells,Aaron Hill and the best pitcher in the game, and a bunch of pitchers for next year coming of injuries...so with a new heavy hitter, their young pitchers coming back, and the young hitters given a chance to really play,i think they would be better off.
